Happy weekend! It’s been a nice short week for me, and I’m still glad to see the weekend. Hope everyone has fun plans — even if “fun plans” means hiding away in a cosy corner with a book, of course.
Books acquired this week
I’m trying not to buy too many books, but a couple of impulse buys here and there can’t hurt when I plan to read them right away, right?
Posts from this week
- Bookish comics: I Will Judge You By Your Bookshelf, by Grant Snider (2/5 stars, “it was okay”)
- Fantasy: Clockwork Boys, by T. Kingfisher (4/5 stars, “really liked it”)
- Poetry: Eat the World, by Marina Diamandis (1/5 stars, “didn’t like it”)
- Fantasy: Reignclowd Palace, by Philippa Rice (4/5 stars, “really liked it”)
- Non-fiction: First Light: Switching on Stars at the Dawn of Time, by Emma Chapman (2/5 stars, “it was okay”)
- Crime: Nine Times Nine, by Anthony Boucher (3/5 stars, “liked it”)
- Non-fiction: Crap: A History of Cheap Stuff in America, by Wendy A. Woloson (3/5 stars, “liked it”)
And the other posts:
What I’m reading
It’s still been a good week for reading, though a lot of these are quite short! Here’s a peek at the books I’ve finished and intend to review on the blog:
I’m planning to play a lot of Final Fantasy XIV this weekend, as I want to work on my weapon relic, so that’s going to be fun! But I do want to finish off the books I need to finish to get a blackout on Book Spin Bingo on Litsy, which means I’ll be doing plenty of reading too, as the end of the month approaches. My first focus is You Should Be So Lucky, by Cat Sebastian, which I’m loving, but… I have quite a bit of reading to do!

Really curious about Boy with Accidental Dinosaur. I figure it could go either way
I ended up not a huge fan, alas. It felt like there wasn’t really a plot.
Bummer about the dinosaur book. Hope the others are great for you. I can never resist grabbing some books even when I have decided I will Not bring more in the house. Yeah…

I knew I’d read the ones I got this week right away, haha, since they were exactly what I was looking for in the moment.
I might have bought a few splurges this past week as well…although I am not sure I will read them soon, LOL! Have a great weekend!

This time I really did, haha, though sometimes it’s not really true…
I visited several bookstores and libraries this week, but I feel proud that I only brought home about a half dozen books, and most of those were from the libraries. It’s so hard to resist. I hope you have a great reading week!

It’s all about moderation, hahaha. With the library especially, I keep reminding myself that the books will be there later, when I’m ready.
I haven’t yet read anything from T. Kingfisher that I haven’t liked – and most of them I’ve loved, though I haven’t tried The Clockwork Boys, yet. Have a great week.
Same! T. Kingfisher’s work is so fun.
Nothing wrong with an impulse buy or three
Wishing you a great reading week

Especially since I did read them right away — one of those cases where they were the perfect match for my mood.
I have Clockwork Boys and one other in that series on audio but haven’t read them yet. Glad to see you really liked it.

Definitely recommended, I love Kingfisher’s work!
Wow you are a very busy week blogging. I read a ton but barely blogged at all. Ekk! You know what that means? Short reviews1 Ha!

I write all my reviews within a day or so of reading the books, then save them for posting later, so I have quite the backlog of posts ready, haha. Keeps things rolling even in a busy week or when I’m not reading much.
Fun plans definitely means hiding out in a cosy corner reading! It’s been a few weekends since I had some fun plans, I should probably schedule it in soon. Glad you had a good reading week!

Every weekend lately has needed to be “hole up with a book” time for me, ahaha. Clearly my brain needs a recharge, and who am I to say no?
My definition of “fun” is hiding with a book. I hope you’re having a great week!
