Happy weekend! I’ve had a pretty good week, and even managed to get out on my bicycle for the first time in a while, meaning I’m now signed up and ready to go at the library. For now, I didn’t get any physical books out, but I’m going to look through my wishlist and hope that the Library Extension I use for my browser will pick up something the new library has available…
Books acquired this week
I didn’t get any books for my anniversary (gasp! but I did get a lovely new geeky sweater) — but I did manage to find myself some books in the bookshop, during my trip into town to register at the library, to no one’s surprise.
I also got a new ARC:
I hadn’t noticed it was PDF only, so it can’t be sent to my Kobo, which makes it a bit more awkward to read… but it does sound fun, so hopefully it’ll be alright on my older Onyx Boox device.
And finally, a hold came in on Libby:
Posts from this week

And of course some other posts:
What I’m reading
As ever, let’s start with a sneak peek at the books I’ve finished this week which I intend to review on the blog. I did also do a couple of rereads, which I’m not going to review again, so it’s been a busy reading week!
As for reading this weekend, hmmm. I want to get on with reading Most Delicious Poison (Noah Whiteman), which I’m finding a touch frustrating, but has plenty of fascinating chemistry in it. I also want to dig into my new volumes of Solo Leveling, and probably start on T. Kingfisher’s Paladin’s Strength.
So there’s plenty of options as always… we’ll see what happens!
Linking up with Reading Reality’s Stacking the Shelves, Caffeinated Reviewer’s The Sunday Post, and the Sunday Salon over at Readerbuzz, as usual!
Have you tried converting the PDF to another version? I do it for my Kindle to epub and it works really well. I don’t use Kobo so I’m not sure how that works.
Sadly, with the DRM it’s not possible (or at least not easy — maybe someone’s figured out how to crack the Readium DRM, but I don’t know anything about it). I should be able to work around it using my older ereader, though; it’s based on Android, so there are more options for it.
Now I want to see your geeky sweater! Riding a bike to the library sounds fun. I ssume you have a basket to carry your books?
I use a rack bag if I’m not getting/taking back too many books, but I also have some panniers. My bike locks take up an annoying amount of space, though!
I wish there were more libraries here in my country. It’s nice to be able to access free books. You riding a bicycle to the library sounds like a nice adventure. 🙂

I like the fact that I can show up and browse a random shelf and find something I’d never have thought of going out to get on purpose. 😀 I can do that a bit with a bookshop, too, of course, but libraries give you a bit more freedom to try something without worrying about spending money on it!
Sounds like a good week. Happy reading!

Thanks for dropping by! Hope you have a good week too.
I love the libraries in my county but have mainy listened to Audible audiobooks for quite a few years.

I sometimes wish they had a bit more selection in certain genres, but it’s invaluable to have the option, and to support spaces like public libraries!
I’m working to finish The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn this weekend, but it’s a bit frustrating. I read it before but I forgot how the last part is a long drawn-out boyish prank and it’s just boring.
I don’t think I ever got through that one, to be fair!
The Most Delicious Poison is a great title! Murder at the Dolphin Hotel sounds intriguing too. Happy Belated Anniversary!
Most Delicious Poison has been pretty fascinating, but I wish it didn’t include so many memoir elements.
Thank you!
I’ve also got a copy of The Bookshop Below – it was that fabulous cover that attracted my attention. Let’s hope we both find it an enjoyable read. I’m not a huge fan of PDF copies, either. But at least my Kindle can cope with them. And Kingfisher’s Paladin series is a joy… Have a great week, Nicky.
Congrats on getting your library card!! And Happy Anniversary!

How exciting to sign up to a new library. This summer we are trying to visit lots of different libraries in our county (Kent). Apparently there are 99 we obviously won’t get to all of them but
Happy anniversary!
Have a great weekend!

I hope your new library is a good one. It sounds great to be able to ride your bike there. I read everything digital so I don’t go to the library in person anymore.
