Stacking the Shelves

Some lovely book-mail awaited me on my return from my month in Belgium, Canada and the US. So excite! Thank you to Susanna Kearsley and to Pan Macmillan for these, respectively.

Aaaand I was happy to reunite with the library, of course.

One-Eyed Jack is a book I had as an ARC… ages ago. So I figured I’d get it from the library. I don’t know what exactly prompted me to try Sarah Pinborough’s books, but I’m intrigued. Susan Cooper is, well. Susan Cooper. ’nuff said. Been meaning to get to this one for ages. And The Darkest Part of the Forest features queer characters, so why the heck not? The Great Zoo of China… I haven’t heard 100% good things about it, but I felt like giving it a shot anyway.

Aaand just one comic on my pull list this week.

Captain Marvel & the Carol Corps #2

So what’s everyone else been getting? Anything you’re really excited about?

  1. I liked Sara Pinborough’s Breeding Ground but I haven’t read vany of her other books yet. I’m not really a fan of the fairy story retellings so I doubt I’d read this one but if her writing is as good as the one I read, you should have a good time with it hopefully! Enjoy!

    • I liked both of them — read them already, haha. I should look for others, though; I think she’s written pretty diversely, and some of the others sound like they might be more my thing.

    • The ARC doesn’t have the gold detailing yet, so it’s all black and white — makes my eyes cross slightly, like one of those optical illusions, haha. I’m enjoying the read so far!

    • I love my library so much, they always seem to have something for me, haha. I’ve heard mixed things about The Great Zoo of China, but it seems only fair to give it a chance.
