Well, that was a Christmas! Lots of books have been acquired, including a vast amount of Daisy Dalrymple, and with that I have nooo problem!

And that’s it for this week! It’s been a very quiet week around here. Back to normal operations soon!

  1. I’m particularly impressed by the wording in the titles you pictured, real skill is required to combine the strange-but-familiar phrases with apposite labels for the subject matter and genre, and most of them work for me.

    It’s that strange lull between Christmas and New Year, a kind of no-man’s-land where work and lassitude are concerned. I’m rereading Northern Lights for its wintry setting and because I’m anxious whether the Beeb’s version, now in post-production, will be true to Pullman’s text and spirit.

  2. I am thrilled to see The Poppy War on your list of new books! An Easy Death was really good too, I was surprised how much I liked it considering I did not care for her Sookie Stackhouse series, but this one was excellent.
