Stacking the Shelves

A somewhat acquisitive week for me! But at least I’m keeping from requesting loads of ARCs, given I have a challenge to meet that means reading 55 of them already… (Yes, that’s not even all my backlog. Just 30% of it. I am awful.)

Bought

Cover of Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers Cover of Changeless by Gail Carriger Cover of Blameless by Gail Carriger

24965354 Cover of One Night in Sixes by Arianne Thompson

The first three, well, I planned to get them anyway, since I’m enjoying both series. The Tanya Huff I’ve been eyeing for ages. And One Night in Sixes is a bookclub read, if I recall rightly.

Comics

Captain Marvel Spider-woman

Looks like a tie-in event for Captain Marvel? Might not be so fond of that… And I am getting tired of seeing Carol looking terrified/helpless on covers. Spider-woman looks fun, though.

How’s everyone else doing? Up to anything interesting?

  1. I’ve always liked the covers for the Gail Carriger books and I wish I could have liked the series but I just don’t seem to like anything steampunk! Not really sure why. Oh well I can still admire the covers! Hope you enjoy your books!

    • I read the first book ages ago, wasn’t enchanted, reread it for… I don’t know what reason, and actually got hooked. So I’m looking forward to the rest, now. I’ve wanted the new Tanya Huff collection since it came out, but I had to keep it for a treat, haha.

  2. I keep meaning to try graphic novels/comics. Everyone seems to be really into them at the moment. Or maybe I’m just more aware of them! I hope you enjoy your new books! 🙂

  3. You’ve got a great list like slways. I’ve been a Tanya fan for ages, so I might have to get that. These others look good. I love Gail so I might have to jump into this series a well because these seem to be everywhere now. I hope you enjoy. yeach mean side eye to the comic’s cover

  4. Mortal Heart is on my TBR list. I just bought the whole set of Mistborn which was more than I usually spend so I figured I have to give myself time before buying another book. I can’t wait to read your review on it! 🙂

I am not entirely sure I could recommend the YA Parasol series, but the new sequel with her daughter wasn’t bad. I have a Tanya Huff book on my TBR list, might have to drag it out.

  6. I loved, LOVED the Parasol Protectorate books by Gail Carriger. I see that the new covers now say “An Alexia Tarabotti Novel”. I have been reading the Finishing School series — one more book to go. I don’t think that Carriger provided enough background information for a reader who hadn’t already read the prior series. Enjoy your new books, and good luck on paring down the number of outstanding ARCs.

  7. I’m thinking of picking up the rest of the Parasol Protectorate one of these days too. I wasn’t totally blown away by Soulless, but I liked her new book Prudence so much that maybe I think I should give her first series another shot.

  8. I love steampunk art and Gail’s covers are beautiful! I always wonder if I’d like a steampunk book. I searched your blog to see if you had published a review for the first book and couldn’t find it so… hope you do! can’t wait to read your review 🙂
