A somewhat acquisitive week for me! But at least I’m keeping from requesting loads of ARCs, given I have a challenge to meet that means reading 55 of them already… (Yes, that’s not even all my backlog. Just 30% of it. I am awful.)
Bought
The first three, well, I planned to get them anyway, since I’m enjoying both series. The Tanya Huff I’ve been eyeing for ages. And One Night in Sixes is a bookclub read, if I recall rightly.
Comics
Looks like a tie-in event for Captain Marvel? Might not be so fond of that… And I am getting tired of seeing Carol looking terrified/helpless on covers. Spider-woman looks fun, though.
How’s everyone else doing? Up to anything interesting?
I’ve always liked the covers for the Gail Carriger books and I wish I could have liked the series but I just don’t seem to like anything steampunk! Not really sure why. Oh well I can still admire the covers! Hope you enjoy your books!
Aww, it sucks when you want to like something and just… nope. Thanks for dropping by!
I loved Mortal Heart, Nikki, I can’t wait to see what you think of it!
Have a great weekend, and enjoy your new books 🙂
I still need to get to the second book, but hopefully that’ll be soon! Thanks for dropping by.
Nice haul. I’ve been meaning to read Gail Carriger’s series for a while now, and Tanya Huff is always a fantastic read.
I read the first book ages ago, wasn’t enchanted, reread it for… I don’t know what reason, and actually got hooked. So I’m looking forward to the rest, now. I’ve wanted the new Tanya Huff collection since it came out, but I had to keep it for a treat, haha.
I keep meaning to try graphic novels/comics. Everyone seems to be really into them at the moment. Or maybe I’m just more aware of them! I hope you enjoy your new books! 🙂
There are some very fun ones around at the moment, it’s true!
Changeless sounds interesting. I hope you like it.
my stacking the shelves
I like the first book, so I’m hopeful! Plus, a friend of mine got really excited about Changeless.
I totally understand the backlog thing. I just went through mine and it is scary. Happy reading!
Tsuki’s STS
Yeah, and if that’s just my ARCs… I’m a little intimidated!
You got some great books this week. I always have been wanting to read Gail Carringer’s books. The Graphic Novels look fantastic.
Grace @ Books of Love
Gail Carriger’s books are such good fun!
You’ve got a great list like slways. I’ve been a Tanya fan for ages, so I might have to get that. These others look good. I love Gail so I might have to jump into this series a well because these seem to be everywhere now. I hope you enjoy. yeach mean side eye to the comic’s cover
I love her short story collections that she’s putting online as ebooks — they’re cheap and yet so good!
Loved the first two books in the His Fair Assassin series, so looking forward to reading Mortal Heart! Enjoy all of your new reads!
Terri @ Alexia’s Books and Such…
I need to read the second book! I really should hurry up with that.
Mortal Heart is on my TBR list. I just bought the whole set of Mistborn which was more than I usually spend so I figured I have to give myself time before buying another book. I can’t wait to read your review on it! 🙂
Oh, eek, I bet that was expensive! I’m thinking I’ll get Mistborn from the library…
It was $15 for the three paperback books which was expensive for me but I heard such great things about it that I just said screw it! lol
I love Gail Carriger’s books! Have you read the Finishing School Series?
I haven’t read all of them, but I have read the first one.
They’re great! I like them a little more than the Parasol Protectorate personally.
Great haul. I really want to check out the Grave Mercy series. I hope you enjoy everything.
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Thanks! I liked Grave Mercy a lot. I’m not sure if my review of it is up yet… I don’t think so.
I have yet to start the Grave Mercy series. I do own the first book. Time…I need more time!!

Second Run Reviews
Oh, how I know that feeling!
I am not entirely sure I could recommend the YA Parasol series, but the new sequel with her daughter wasn’t bad. I have a Tanya Huff book on my TBR list, might have to drag it out.
I read the first book, and… shrug. It was okay? Fluffy fun. And hee, I do like Tanya Huff. Which book?
The Enchantment Emporium
Ooh, I have that one to read too.
I really enjoyed Mortal Heart! I’ve not heard of the others but there are some nice covers there! I hope you enjoy them.
Yeah, definitely some pretty ones this week, haha. Thanks for dropping by!
I loved, LOVED the Parasol Protectorate books by Gail Carriger. I see that the new covers now say “An Alexia Tarabotti Novel”. I have been reading the Finishing School series — one more book to go. I don’t think that Carriger provided enough background information for a reader who hadn’t already read the prior series. Enjoy your new books, and good luck on paring down the number of outstanding ARCs.
Huh, I hadn’t twigged that! I think of them as the Parasol Protectorate anyway…
I’m thinking of picking up the rest of the Parasol Protectorate one of these days too. I wasn’t totally blown away by Soulless, but I liked her new book Prudence so much that maybe I think I should give her first series another shot.
Me neither, but a friend of mine got really enthusiastic about the second book, Changeless!
I love steampunk art and Gail’s covers are beautiful! I always wonder if I’d like a steampunk book. I searched your blog to see if you had published a review for the first book and couldn’t find it so… hope you do! can’t wait to read your review 🙂
They are! And hmm, there should be a review. Yep, here!
Thanks! read it. Nice review 🙂
Glad it was interesting!
Mortal sounds good! Hope you enjoy and have a great upcoming week.
Thanks!
