Stacking the Shelves

First full week of 2015; first chance for us to break all our resolutions and buy a load of books. How’s everyone else been getting along?

At my parents’ place again for most of January, so this is what I got out of the library to keep me amused — as if I needed anything more than what’s on my ereader and on my shelves from their generosity at Christmas! Ahem…

Anyway, so far this year I’ve avoided buying any new books; I’ve finished the first book in my Open University course already, so I feel like maybe I deserve one, but I can’t choose. I do now have an Amazon wishlist which I’m trying to keep updated. If nothing else, it’ll serve as a list of ‘approved’ books when I do want to get something, and I’ve saved stuff I haven’t preordered yet onto there too.

  1. I love the Mercy Thompson series! I first read the five books a few years ago and I’ve been saving the rest of the series for a rainy weekend! I hope to get to them when I finish the Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin. I’ve got three books left to finish that series so I’m at least getting caught up on a few series at last! Enjoy your books!

    • I still need to read the first book, but I figured having the next one from the library here would motivate me to get round to it! I’ve been meaning to read them since Rachel Neumeier mentioned them in her interview on this blog… I feel like I’ve been missing out!

  2. I really love the Mercy Thompson series, too, but I’m a little behind, I have one book that I haven’t had a chance to read yet.
I hope you’re having a great time at your parents’ place, that you can relax, read some good books and just enjoy spending time with them πŸ™‚
Have a great weekend and happy reading.

  3. Well I have been good resolution wise so far but i have bought a lot of books. I think that is to do with a combination of lots of gift vouchers from Christmas along with the fact, i feel kinda guilty buying anything for myself in December coming up to Christmas so feel i need to make up for it in January πŸ˜›

I have the first book in the Mercy Thompson series a I have heard good things about it but i have not yet gotten round to reading it. Same goes for Seraphina. I will read it one day however πŸ™‚

If you are interested, you can check out the books I got this week at : http://www.sapphireddragon.com/2015/01/stacking-shelves-21.html

Have a great week and happy reading!

    • I’ve been good so far and not bought any books in January. Having reached 11th January (in fifteen minutes, anyway) without buying any books is probably a record for me! I tend to end up buying a lot of books in the sales around the New Year, usually…

I need to get round to both; I haven’t read the first book yet. Just hoping grabbing the second from the library will motivate me!

      Thanks.

  4. Out of sheer curiosity I decided to add a page to my site called “Spoils of Acquisition” to track the books I buy and am gifted throughout the year, and highlight those I actually read. I started with December and have bought, and been gifted, a crapload of books already.
