Volume seven of Cat + Gamer features the perils of working from home with kitties! There’s no explicit reference to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, but it felt pretty pandemic-coded with everyone working from home and chatting via Zoom (and discussing Riko’s cats when they make themselves known).

I actually loved how clear it is that Riko is a great worker and really good at her job, as well as being such a nerdy gamer — she even saves her team member’s butt by coming in all competent and to the point. It’s easy when the manga’s silly most of the time to think of Riko as kinda ditzy or a slacker, but this was a reminder that her co-workers actually look up to her, and that she’s super professional.

Also, I loved the “mystery game” part when a kitty caused chaos and Riko tried to play the detective.
