Books acquired this week
N/a! I’m working on reading some of the books I’ve got this year and haven’t started yet, and some backlog books, so I can meet my reading targets. If there’s something really tempting I’ll get it, there’s no book ban or anything, but I’m pretty happy with my current lineup.

I haven’t started posting extra reviews yet, but I should pick a couple of days a week to do so, or figure out how to bundle some together, because the backlog of reviews to post is getting a liiiiittle bit out of hand. They’re all written, I just don’t want to spam y’all.

- Horror: The Forgotten Dead, by Jordan L. Hawk (4/5 stars, “really liked it”)
- Fantasy romance manga: The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter, vol 5, by Kazuki Irodori (4/5 stars, “really liked it”)

My reading’s been a bit calmer this week, ahaha, but there’s still plenty! Here’s the usual sneak peek of books I plan to review on the blog soon:
 
As for this weekend’s plans… the final volume of The Disabled Tyrant’s Beloved Pet Fish, probably. I keep saying that, but I do really want to get to it! Other than that, who knows?

It wasn’t for me; I find Khaw’s work rather hit and miss, sadly.
Kathryn Paige Harden’s book sounds intriguing — I’ve added it to my list. OTOH a book about blackened teeth sounds yuck.

I didn’t personally enjoy it, and it has relatively mixed reviews from other scientists/experts, but hope you find it more useful!
Nothing But Blackened Teeth is indeed a horror novella, so that would make sense. 😉 Though it’s worth noting that in a few parts of the world across history, people deliberately blackened their teeth as a sign of beauty (such as in Japan in the Heian period), so mileage may vary.
Interesting looking books. I actually had a couple of books this week and a blog tour sign up which is a lot for me. I do need to concentrate on trying to get my Summer Reading List done

I hope you can get caught up your reviews. I’ve added The Genetic Lottery to my TBR list.
They’re all written, so there’s really no pressure. 🙂 It’s just getting them posted without spamming people.
I hope people don’t consider that I’ve recommended The Genetic Lottery by saying I’ve read it, because I do not recommend it!
I’m with you on the review backlog, I’ve got all the reading done but I need to step it up before my Netgalley percentage crashes!

Haha, yeah, I try to write them within a couple of days of finishing the book, to make sure I stay on track and don’t forget what I want to say… it mostly works out, ahaha.

I like how you share your thoughts about the books you read, even the ones like The Genetic Lottery that you don’t really like. I often omit the books I did not like from my list—sometimes I don’t even review them. But it is good knowledge.

I’ve always been in the habit of reviewing everything, because it’s all helpful knowledge! Sometimes something I didn’t like is perfect for someone else, after all.
You seem voracious in your reading. Great that you are ahead on reviews. I’m a little behind right now. It’s never comfortable to be reading for this week’s reviews.
No, that sounds unfun! At one point I was reading more or less as I posted, and I was always thinking my blog would be empty, ahaha.
