Wooo! I’m finally writing this from the new house — and all my books are sorted and on the shelves! There’s still unpacking to do here and there, but the books instantly make it more like home for me. I haven’t been doing a lot of reading since I’ve been so busy, but my new recliner/reading nook is all set now, so here’s hoping there’ll be plenty of reading over the weekend.

N/a, once more! As I mentioned last week, it’s my wedding anniversary on 5th August, and my birthday on 20th August, so I’m trying to leave some books on my wishlist for people to get me, ahaha.

I finished just one book this week:
I intend to spend a bit more time this weekend reading, now that things are a bit settled in. I’ve started on a backlog book, Gwen and Art are Not In Love (Lex Croucher), which I intend to read more of, and I’d like to make progress with my reread of Dreadful Company (Vivian Shaw) too. But we’ll see! As ever, it’ll be down to whim.

Congrats on getting your books shelved! You’ve reminded me that I need to get cracking on my own book project. I stopped at “M” because I’m going to run out of bookshelves soon and it’s sort of depressing…
I have managed to finesse enough bookcases into this household that (for now) there’s actually still some space left! I don’t have my full collection here (none of my British Library Crime Classics), but all the same, it’s pretty good, and those are mostly for display at this point.
Moved in, hell yeah! That’s funny about getting the bookshelves stocked as it’s one of the first things I did when we moved in. It does indeed make you feel like you are home.
I’d like to take a look at The History of the World in 47 Borders.
I always do the books first chance I get — though this is the biggest move I’ve ever done, and it was hard work!
I found it a fun read; I ultimately rated it just 2/5 stars (“it was okay”), but it was still a fun and interesting read. I just wanted a bit more depth at times.
I’m so glad you are finally in your house. That is a great feeling. And organized bookshelves? Those are the best. Enjoy your new reading space.
I haven’t been reading a lot either. Life is definitely getting in the way. Hopefully soon.

Weellll, not quite everything! Mostly the books, most of my clothes too, but there are still far too many boxes lying around to feel quite unpacked. There’s enough to be comfy though!

I just ordered “A Brief History of the World in 47 Borders,” from the library (Surprising Stories Behind the Lines on Our Maps) edited by Elledge, Jonn. Is that the same book you read?
Yes, pretty much! The edition I read is a slightly updated version with an extra chapter, but as far as I know the text is almost the same between the two.

I had a huge rec room where I used to live that was lined with bookshelves. I moved 8 years ago so I had family who are readers come and get the ones they wanted/as many as they wanted because the house we were moving to was 1/3 of the size.
Oof, that’s quite the downsize! I can’t imagine we’ll do that any time soon, while we both work from home, ’cause we need the space. That said, we won’t live here forever, so who knows… we might not be able to find somewhere that fits in so many bookcases, next time.
It’s been forty years since we moved which will tell you a lot about our last big move, filled with boxes and boxes of both books and rocks. We do not plan to move again. lol. It’s wonderful to feel settled into a place, I think. Enjoy.
