Good morning, folks! I sort of haven’t got new books to show off today… but I sort of have, as a preorder arrived on my Kindle this week and I realised I didn’t feature a book I bought just after Christmas. So here they are!
Books read this week:
Two stars: Heroine Complex.
Four stars: In Other Lands, Arabella of Mars.
Five stars: The Emperor of All Maladies.
Reviews posted this week:
–The Unbelievable Gwenpool: Believe It, by Christopher Hastings et al. Not quite my thing, but fun and great colours. 3/5 stars
–Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell. A reread just for the pure fun of it, and it was very satisfying. 5/5 stars
–Tutankhamen, by Christiane Desroches-Noblecourt. I loved this as a kid, and even now it still fascinated me. It’s a great account of Tutankhamen’s tomb and the earliest theories about his life. 4/5 stars
–Heroine Complex, by Sarah Kuhn. It’s fun in many ways, but not for me. 2/5 stars
–Bones of Contention, by Paul Chambers. A fascinating retrospective of the Archaeopteryx fossils and what they’ve meant to the scientific community. 4/5 stars
–The Sutton Hoo Story, by Martin Carver. A survey of the Sutton Hoo site and the archaeology done there since excavations began. 4/5 stars

–Sell me a book! The catch is, it’s gotta be a book from my backlog.
–WWW Wednesday. What I’ve been reading, what I’m going to read.
OMG I’m very excited to see you’re going to read Failure to communicate!!! I hope you will like it!!
I’ve seen some fascinating reviews! 🙂
Nice haul! I hope you enjoy all of your books 🙂
I hope to read Carry On soon. I have just read Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell and since then I wanted to read more of her books, but haven’t got enough time 😛 I hope to read them soon.

I love Carry On; like I said, it was a reread for me! It always cheers me up.
I’m always missing out something I bought. Today my TBR jumped up by about 20 as I uncovered books I forgot to add to Goodreads. That was annoying!

Oh, that’s always annoying. I hate when I figure out my lists are out of sync!
I’m glad that you enjoyed Carry On! I enjoyed it too. 🙂 I hope you enjoy your new additions to your shelves.

Yeah, this was the… third time I’ve read it? So I was pretty sure I’d like it, haha.
I read The Emperor of All Maladies last year and it’s such a fascinating book, isn’t it? I’m hoping to read the author’s other book The Gene this year. I haven’t heard of your two new books but I love the cover of Beneath the Sugar Sky, it’s gorgeous. I hope you enjoy reading your new books.
It really was! I need to get round to reading The Gene too.
I’m in the middle of Beneath a Sugar Sky right now. I have mixed feeling so far. I’m in love with McGuire’s writing but I’m not sold on the world yet. Either way though, it’s one of my favorite series and I hope this isn’t the last one.

I’m not sure how much I’ll like it because it’s set in a nonsense world, right? Not my thing at all!
I heard wonderful things about Beneath the Sugar Sky, I hope you enjoy it. Have a wonderful week.
I love the series! Thanks for dropping by.
Glad to see you liked The Emperor of All Maladies. That is one on my tbr pile. Happy reading.

I thought it was a really good one — serious stuff, and maybe a little slow going, but very worth the read.
I’m not familiar with these but wow lots of goodies I hope you love them all! Such pretty covers 😉
Two counts as lots? 😮 You should see my other hauls, haha.
I’m curious to hear what you thought of Arabella of Mars! I was surprised how much I enjoyed it, but I didn’t know what to expect at all when I picked it up.
