Oh goodness, Stacking the Shelves snuck up on me this week. How’s everyone been doing? I thought I’d been behaving myself, but I just got a Kindle Voyage (so shiny) and a bunch of books and I took part in a book swap and… yeah.
Review copy
Could not resist when I saw it was on Netgalley, after Kameron Hurley’s tweets about it.
Bought
I’m quite excited about all of these, but especially The Story of Kullervo, because it deeply influenced the way Tolkien told the story of Turin, and The Sorcerer of the Wildeeps, because Tor.com’s novella line looks amazing.
Book exchange
Well, the Storm Constantine books are actually an omnibus, but I count them as separate books.
Aaand finally…
Comics
I think that’s everything! Quite the week. Hope everyone else has had exciting hauls too! <3
I’ve nearly finished the Kalevala, which contains the main source material for Kullervo, so now I’m excited about the Tolkien version for your reason and to see how he handled the Finnish tale.
I’m excited too! I know it’s unfinished, so I’m not expecting wonders, but it will be interesting to see what Tolkien wrote.
Great haul! I got Queen of Shadows this week too but need to finish Heir of Fire first. I really want to read both Traitor Baru Cormorant (trying my best to stay away from Netgalley!) and House of Shattered Wings but I’m going to Bristol Con at the end of the month so trying (lol!) to save my pennies.
Happy reading 🙂
Me too, I haven’t even finished the short stories/novellas yet, either. Bookalanche! I’ve been trying to stay away from Netgalley too, but oh, couldn’t resist this one. And ooh, enjoy Bristol Con! I thought about going.
It starts with maybe a freebie or two, or a swap or a preordered book…and before you know it you find yourself with a fair sized book haul for the week! It just sneaks up on you! Pesky little blighters!
Yep. Exactly like that. Sneaky, sneaky.
Nuffink. Nada. Zilch. Nil. Nought. Zero. Nowt. A big fat O. No shelves stacked. 🙁
At least that’s in line with your decluttering goals?!
Awesome stack of books this week. I hope you love all of your new books this week.

Thanks!
Awesome haul this week 🙂
I’m seeing a lot of Queen of Shadows on the blogs. I admit I haven’t read the series, but I have the first book sitting on my shelf. Hopefully I can get to it this month.
Hope you enjoy all your new books!
I haven’t read the whole series yet, but I know I like it, so I preordered Queen of Shadows so I can go straight to it when I do catch up! Thanks for dropping by.
Twelve Kings was a great read – a fitting intro (for me) to Bradley’s work. The Sorcerer of the Wildeeps looks like an interesting read.
It’ll be an intro for me, too! I’m intrigued. And yes, I’m excited by Tor.com’s whole novella lineup, of which Kai Ashante Wilson’s is the first.
I hope you enjoy Twelve Kings, I also really enjoyed it. I also got an audio copy of Queen of Shadows to review and I’m really looking forward to listening!
I’ve heard good things, so I’m hopeful! And I need to read Heir of Fire before I can get to Queen of Shadows… oops.
I’m liking the cover for The Bullet Catcher’s Daughter. Hope it turns out good. Happy reading.
It does sound fun! Thanks for dropping by.
Great haul! The Bullet Daughter looks pretty awesome. I’ll have to look it up on Goodreads.
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
It’s an Angry Robot book, and they’re usually pretty fun!
I love the cover for THe House with Shattered Wings! I must now go look into that book 🙂 I hope you enjoy all these. Happy Reading!
Here are my newest additions.
I know, it looks awesome, doesn’t it? I’ve been looking forward to this one.
I still haven’t read the Raven boys but I love the author so I know that it must rock! I hope you enjoy all of the books you got 🙂
I haven’t read anything by Maggie Stiefvater yet! I’m interested.
