The three ‘W’s are what are you reading now, what have you recently finished reading, and what are you going to read next, and you can find this week’s post at the host’s blog here if you want to check out other posts.
What are you currently reading?
At the moment, I’m mostly working on my reread of Assassin’s Apprentice, by Robin Hobb, and I’ve just started a reread of American Gods, by Neil Gaiman — I’ve been meaning to reread it for a while, since the show started. Not that I’ve been watching the show (I hardly ever watch tv), but it brought it to mind and I did see bits of it while my wife was watching it.
What have you recently finished reading?
I juuuust finished reading The Trouble With Physics, by Lee Smolin. It’s a little out of date, I suspect, since it’s from 2007, so before the Higgs boson was found and so on, but I think a lot of the points still hold true. String theory still, as far as I know, hasn’t come up with any predictions or designed any major experiments to prove or disprove the theory, and the musing on the academic community in the sciences is still relevant too.
What will you read next?
I’m going to read Leviathan Wakes, by James S.A. Corey, since that’s a book club read, and then Life on the Edge, by Jim Al-Khalili and Johnjoe McFadden, because I’m going to the NS Live event in September and one of the authors is going to be there. Also, because I have no idea what quantum biology is, and I want to find out.
So what are you reading?
After a lazy start to the week I managed to read Crypto Squad 1 and 2 which were short and fun and it’s kickstarted me. I have three books I want to finish by Saturday so we’ll see how that goes! I’m itching to get to the third GoT book but I have other things that must be done first! The very phrase Quantam Biology sends terrors through my brain but I’ll be interested to see what you make of it!

So far, I’m following the quantum biology book okay, but… I still kind of hope I never have to deal with quantum in my own biology work! Heh. And man, I really need to start reading GoT sometime.
OOOoh the Expanse. I shall wait your comments with baited breath. I’m about to pick up book 3 – I didn’t get sucked in until the second half of Leviathan Wakes, but have found myself reluctant to put them down since then…

I found the first 100 pages or so quite infodumpy, after the prologue sucked me right in. I’m getting into it more now, though.
That prologue! I’m actually nervous about starting book 3 because there will be another prologue. And I’m 2/2 with the prologues for ARGH THAT WAS MORE HARROWING THAN I EXPECTED.
It just got back to the weirdness of the prologue. Vomit zombies?!
Right? Gaaaaaah.
