It’s been a bit of a weird and wonderful week for me, as far as acquisitions go — which surprises nobody, really. My trip last weekend to a consciousness workshop in London was really interested, and prompted pretty much allย the non-fiction I’ve picked up, and then I had a three hour monster exam on Wednesday on maths and science, and my mother provided a nice chunk of Amazon voucher to reward me, so… yeah. Books!
I don’t know if I mentioned I also got a new Kindle recently — a Kindle Voyage, which has been christened Glyph, and which I should write a review of soon.
Non-fiction
I know, I know, it’s a little unbelievable I haven’t read more of Sacks’ work already. Working on it!
On a side note, since this week covered my weird reading habits, here’s a weird blogging habit: I prefer multiples of three for covers in a row. Two is acceptable. That Oliver Sacks cover on its own is a travesty that, if I’d noticed before, I’d have fixed by getting out another library book on neurology.
Fiction (bought)
Sunset Mantle was blurbed by Jo Walton, so I’m very much looking forward to it. I noticed the Tanya Huff books were only ยฃ2.50 ish each on Kindle, so I grabbed ’em to complete my collection. Goodness knows when I’ll get round to all this reading…
Fiction (library)
I have a challenge/resolution to read more of the SF Masterworks, and I’ve been meaning to tryย London Falling for a while, so they were my somewhat random choices at the library.
And that’s it! It’s been a busy ol’ week. How’s everyone else been doing? What have you been reading, acquiring, reviewing and squealing over? Do tell.
Wowza! So many great looking books! I might have to check out The Golem and the Djinni! ๐
Happy Reading!
I knoooow, I’m excited! Thanks for dropping by.
That’s a lot of diverse books, Nikki! It also sounds like your workshop was very interesting ๐ I hope you aced your science and math exam!
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading ๐
It really was, I’m looking forward to reading the books! And I hope so too… I think I did okay, at least!
Thank you!
Wow! What a great haul… And so many new to me authors! Happy reading ๐

Two of my favourite words in the English language are ‘Amazon Voucher’!!! I’ve got a pile of Tanya Huff books sitting on my shelf which I’ve been meaning to get to for about 5 years now! Honestly, I really need to get some of these books looked at as I officially have NO space on ANY of my bookcases and no space to get another one. Grrr! The trials of being a book addict…Enjoy your purchases!
Yep! Especially in that combination, heh. Tanya Huff’s books are fun! They’re like comforting fluff for me. I’m in the same boat re: bookcases. I’ve got three boxes full of books in my room (plus a fourth just containing library books, which is overflowing — I have a problem, clearly).
Oh, Amazon certificates…score!
All of these books and authors are new to me except for Tanya Huff. I’ve heard this was supposed to be her best series.
Great haul! Happy reading!!
I knoooow. My mum is awesome.
I know my sister really loves the series, so I’m hopeful!
I hope you did well on your exams. So many books from a lot of different genres. I hope you love all your new books this week.

Thanks! I think I did okay. *crosses fingers* I’m excited about all the books this week, so that bodes well! Thanks for dropping by.
Farlander and Sunset Mantle both look good, and Tanya Huff is always a fantastic read (although I’m not a fan of those new e-book covers).
You know, I don’t even know the plot of Farlander or anything, but it was 99p, so I figured… why not? Heh. The new covers (also the Titan paperback cover)… I was okay with them, but then I noticed that they’re all essentially the same (I hadn’t really registered anything but the colour changes, I think!) and I’m not fond of that.
You could lock yourself up for a month with all of that! Funny, I am the same with the rows of books. I definitely don’t want to have one hanging by itself!
I already had plenty to lock myself up with, ha. I didn’t need this lot!
I’d like to check out Sunset Mantle. Of the new titles from Tor.com, that wasn’t on my list to read before, but I’ve heard some great things and now I’m curious. Sweet stack of books this week, btw!
I was sold on it from Jo’s positive comments — she mentioned reading it when I met up with her last, I think, so I’ve been curious for a while!
Something from Oliver Sacks and Chapelwood peak my interest. Happy reading.
I’ve already finished the Sacks book — fascinating stuff! Thanks for dropping by.
WOW these are all new to me! BUt I hope you enjoy them!

Thank you!
Sounds like you are busy ++. Enjoy the reading.
I do seem to keep on moving, haha. Thanks for dropping by!
Great haul of books! I think the Valor books by Huff are the only ones of hers that I haven’t read so will have to check them out! Have just downloaded Sunset Mantle, if Jo says it’s good then it must be ๐
Good luck with the exam results, enjoy your new books and happy reading!
I somehow haven’t read that much of Huff’s work, but I know I enjoy it, heh. I’m looking forward to digging into more!
Thank you.
I really want to read The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. I agree with you about covers looking best in multiples of 3…I hate it when I just have 1 book to talk about. It stands out so much!! Haha.
The covers of the Fairyland books are all so beautiful but for some reason I keep putting off that series.
It was very interesting, though the clinical details are a bit out of date now!
I’m really enjoying the Fairyland series, I do recommend it.
Huh, Chapelwood looks interesting. Is that a direct sequel to the last one? *squints* I personally thought that Maplecroft felt pretty singular, so I’m a little surprised to see a new one.
Hopefully that’s a good book!
It is a sequel! I’m wondering how it’s going to be carried on — but it’s Cherie Priest, so I’m willing to try!
I love Tanya Huff her works are awesome. You got some great works this week. Good reading month ahead
Her books really are fun! Thanks for dropping by.
Wow, fabulous haul! I am not super familiar with any of these, but some of the titles and/or covers have me curious, so it looks like I am off to Goodreads ๐ Hope you enjoy!
Thanks! Some of these are from really good authors/series, you should definitely check them out.
