Nice little haul this week — slightly more manageable than last week’s…
Five Flavors of Dumb is Cait @ Paper Fury‘s fault; she mentioned how amazing she found it, and hey, it has a deaf main character, I’m intrigued. The Sparrow will be a reread — it’s amazing, but serious and heartbreaking.
What’s everyone else been getting their grubby little mitts on?
My grubby little mitts are mostly behaving themselves this summer…but for how long I can’t tell! My hauls are small for now but I’m getting twitchy so a splurge could be coming! Enjoy your books!
Yeaaaah, as you’ve seen, I got twitchy and had to splurge!
I haven’t heard of any of your books before, Nikki, but there are several that look really good! Five Flavours of Dumb is a very intriguing title 🙂
Have a great weekend and happy reading.
I’m definitely sure that McKillip’s books will be good, at least, and my partner just read the Elizabeth Bear ones and enjoyed them! So I’m hopeful. Thanks for dropping by.
WOOT WOOT I SEE MY DELIGHTFUL RECOMMENDATION SKILLS UP THERE AND I AM JUST MILDLY PROUD (and a teeny bit nervous…*chews fingernails* I hope you like it! :D)
I’m sure it will be good!
I always enjoy Mary Doria Russell, and this one has a cover that drags me right to it.
The Sparrow is amazing. I’m less of a fan of the sequel, Children of God, but it’s still interesting.
The title Five Flavors of Dumb made me laugh. I’ll have to heck this one out. I hope you enjoy your books this week 🙂
My STS
It sounds good, at least! Cait @ Paper Fury recommends it highly.
Wow, great haul! Five Flavors of Dumb is definitely a great read. My copy of the book is signed and Antony John is a very nice person in real life too. My Stacking the Shelves isn’t as full as it usually is but hey… I finally got one up and that’s an improvement for me.
Ha, my STS usually isn’t this full, or so I’d like to think…
Nice bunch. The Elizabeth Bear ones catch my eye. The Sparrow is one of those I’ve been meaning to try, but waiting for the right mood. Enjoy your latest 😉
The Sparrow is definitely one you need to be in the right mood for — it’s rather philosophical. And sad.
I haven’t seen any of these books before, but Five Flavours of Dumb looks great. Love the cover. I’ll have to check it out.
Great haul. Happy Reading!
It does sound good! Thanks for dropping by.
Some of the authors are familiar to me, but wow all the books in your haul are new to me. Five Flavors of Dumb looks really interesting, actually. It’s the first cover and title that caught my eye. Thanks for introducing me to these!
Most of these are older books! Five Flavors of Dumb does seem cool, I really have to start it soon.
You know I’ve seen Elizabeth Bear twice at conventions in the last year and have yet to read one of her books! I did figure out, after seeing her, that she wrote one of the short stories an anthology on my shelf. 🙂

Second Run Reviews
It took me ages to get round to reading her stuff! But I’m finding it fun.
Ooh, I need to try The Five Flavors of Dumb. Patricia McKillip looks interesting, too.
Thanks, good work.
McKillip’s work is amazing, lyrical and gorgeous. I hope you like it if you check it out — helps that the covers are all gorgeous too!
Great haul! I’ve not heard of these but I do hope that you enjoy them. 🙂
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Thanks!
These are all new titles to me but that’s what I love about STS, that we get to learn of books that maybe should be on our radar! Hope you enjoy them all 🙂 Here’s ours: Bibliojunkies Happy reading! ~ Bel
Indeed, I’ve found some awesome books that way! Thanks for dropping by!
