I’ve been a bit naughty in the last week. In my defence, there was a signing in a bookshop and my sister insisted I get one of the books below. Uh. That’s a good defence, right?
Acquisitions
I forgot about the issues with Full Fathom Five when I picked up Dorothy Must Die; that was the one my sister wanted me to get, because of Ollie the talking monkey. I feel a little bad about that.
Arrivals
These have been on order for a while and finally arrived this week!
Library
Those with long memories will know I actually owned the first four already (and I’ve read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell before), but I thought I’d grab them in dead tree to see if it would poke me to get on with it and read them!
So overall, a very satisfying haul for me! Must put some of these on the June TBR list, since the May one was a success for me. How’s everyone else been doing? Lots of new books? Exciting library trips? Self-control and budgeting?
Okay, I am super disappointed that I forgot about the issues with Frey, because I love Dorothy Must Die and its sequels and I want to keep reading them, dang it.
I am very interested to see what you think about Leckie’s books, because I legitimately do not know how I feel about them. I read the first one last year, right before the Hugos, and I am thinking about doing a reread to see if my opinion changes a second time around.
Yeah, it’s a bit saddening. The book does look fun.
I get the impression I could end up feeling that way too…
Ann Leckie is actually a guest of honor at ICON 40 in Cedar Rapids this year. I’m looking forward to meeting her.
Have a good week!

Second Run Reviews
Ooh, that’ll be cool!
I’ve been taking it easy with the review titles lately, but went crazy this week. 🙂
Good luck with your books! I didn’t care for Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell (the pacing was glacially slow), but I am curious about Ancillary Sword & Justice.
I’ve been restraining myself greatly, because I have a goal to get to 80% feedback on NG by the end of the year! But I did try one request for Chris F. Holm’s new book, because oh, I wants it.
I liked it when I read it before. I’m getting nervous of the reread though, with everyone complaining! As for Leckie’s books, I’m hopeful; a lot of people I know adore them.
I have heard good things about the Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell along with the Wrath and Dawn. Enjoy your new babies.
Grace @ Books of Love
I do like Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell; I’ve read it before, so I’m hoping I’ll still feel that way. I’m excited for The Wrath and the Dawn!
I’ve cut down on my library books because of so many ARCs. Luckily only 3 to read for June, so I just put several on hold.
Hope you’ll be stopping by
I know that feeling! I’m making a big effort to catch up with my ARCs.
The Wrath and The Dawn catches my eye. Must say, I had a hard time getting into Jonathan Strange as well.
It looks even prettier in person! And aw, I liked it when I first read it, but I can see why you wouldn’t.
Great books! I recently read Dorothy must die too and I loved it. I hope you enjoy all of your new books 🙂
Thanks! I’m optimistic, haha.
They’re all new to me but I hope you’ll like them. Happy reading!
Thanks!
Great haul! Dorothy Must Die and Landline are two that I’ve seen around quite a lot. I can’t wait until I finally get the chance to read them. I hope you have a good week!
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Yeah, I’m excited to read them too!
Enjoying the tv adaptation of Strange & Norrell so it’s certainly a title I’ll be planning to read.
I enjoyed it a lot. I’m looking forward to rereading it.
What’s ‘self control’??? LOL! I seem to be rather lacking in that these days but I love my books and I don’t care! *stamps foot* Have a great reading week!
Ha, if I had more money I’d be right there with you!
Yeah, I can definitely relate to just ‘having to’ get those books, Nikki. They all look really good, too, so hopefully, you’ll enjoy them.
Have a fantastic week.
It happens to me all too often, haha. Thanks!
