Well, folks, it’s been a looong time since I did one of these! Lately I don’t get books every week, so I’m not sure what I’ll do on “off” weeks — maybe I’ll go back to showcasing what I’ve read that week, instead.
Books acquired this week:
For this week I do have some books to show off: my British Library Crime Classics subscription book came in for this month, which is always exciting. Sadly, there was no bookmark with it this month (I hope they haven’t stopped doing the matching bookmark thing!
Aaaand I got hooked on the Shady Hollow series, thanks to somebody’s Top Ten Tuesday post making me curious about it, so after devouring the first one, I quickly grabbed the three sequels and the two short stories.
I must confess I’ve already got through Cold Clay, Evergreen Chase and Phantom Pond, and I expect Mirror Lake to follow in short order. And then I suppose I’ll be bereft!
Reviews posted this week:
And while we’re here, a quick recap on the reviews I’ve posted this week. Each thumbnail links to the review of the book!
So that’s what’s new around here. I expect I’ll miss this post next week, since I’m away and I’m not taking a laptop with me (gasp!), but otherwise… I think I’m back! How’s everyone doing?
Those are some beautiful book covers!
Yeah, they have lovely designs! I don’t know if that’s the cover in the UK shops, but if not I might have to import copies, hehe. For now I just have ebooks, but I’m pretty sure I’ll want to have them to revisit in future.
Thanks for dropping by!
Gorgeous covers!
They really are! The ebook covers aren’t like this, but I like these better and want to get copies with these covers.
Those Shadow Hollow covers are gorgeous! Those must be the highlight of your shiny bookshelves, especially since they look like Barnes and Noble special editions. Have fun on your vacation, and happy Saturday!
I actually have ebook versions, alas, though I should go ahead and acquire these in “dead tree” too — I just know I’ll be revisiting.
Thanks for dropping by!
I love the british Crime Classics! And ooh what are these Shady Hollow things? Methinks I must investigate! 🙂
Me too! I’ve signed up for the subscription now, so I get the new one automatically every month, and often a little bit of extra swag like a bookmark. This month it was a book of puzzles.
The Shady Hollow books are a lot of fun! They’re cosy mysteries, and a little bit quirky.
I really need to try to Shady Hollow series. I think I’d enjoy them. But I have so many books calling my name.
Right?! So many books, so little time! But the Shady Hollow books have been really quick and absorbing reads for me — they totally got me out of a slump!
I do love the Crime Classics. I didn’t realise that there was a subscription that you could get. I need to investigate this.
It’s from the British Library shop! They don’t always have slots available, but looks like it’s possible to sign up for it at the moment. I love it!
I hope that you enjoy all these new reads and have a wonderful time away!
Thanks! I’m certainly enjoying them so far, haha. The only ones I haven’t already read by this afternoon are the British Library Crime Classic one and Twilight Falls… and I’m halfway through that. XD
I am away next week as well, but will have my laptop with me. Not sure if I will get a post out or not. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend!
I’m deliberately unplugging, or I’ll definitely get the urge to “just check in” on work! I’m terrible, haha.
I listened to the first Shady Hollow book on Hoopla and really enjoyed it. It lends itself well to audio. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get the others in the series on audio through any borrowing app, but when I do, I will definitely listen to them. 🙂
Oh I bet that was fun! I’ll have to keep an eye out — sometimes I like something familiar to listen to while I’m crafting, so I can keep half my mind on the pattern.
The Shady Hollow Mysteries look really good. I’ll have to check them out. Hope you have a great week!
I really enjoyed them! It’s been a while since I tore through a series like that.
Thanks for dropping by!
The covers look beautiful. It is very easy to be without a laptop. Mine is off most of the week *smile*
I’m glad for you. I work full-time on a job that requires a computer, and I’m self-employed, so I don’t have the luxury of easily leaving my computer behind — it’s a serious decision to take some time off to get away from it.
I love discovering a new author and wanting to read more from them! I hope that you enjoy all these books!
I accidentally read all the Juneau Black books I got already! It was so fun; been a while since I’ve had that. Thanks for dropping by!
