Oh. Oh dear. It’s been a busy week, and it’s time for Stacking the Shelves, as hosted by Tynga’s Reviews! There was a library, and a second hand bookshop, and… things just escalated, okay? It doesn’t help that I’ve actually got hard copies of some of the books I originally got as ARCs from the library, just to make me feel guilty when I look at them. I’m not sure it’s working, but. Books! Also re-bought some books I already technically own, for the excuse to reread. You may have noticed I like doing that.
Library books
Of this lot, I already had Fortune’s Pawn in ebook, The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches and Wolfhound Century as ARCs, and I’ve already read and adore The Night Circus.
Second-hand bookshop finds
These are all new to me, though I know Patricia McKillip is great, and I picked up the Dodie Smith books because, oh, how I love I Capture the Castle.
Ebooks
The Cherie Priest books are to reread, because I love them. <3 And omg, Tolkien’s translation of Beowulf. I have been hoping for this to be published since I first heard of it.
Hardcovers
Look what showed up!
Review copies/ARCs
I am so excited for this one.
So yeah, busy week! What’s everyone else been stocking up on?
I really liked The Night Circus. It was really different. You found some good ones at the second hand shop. Love that. My Real Children looks good. Enjoy.
Yeah, I loved it so much the first time I’ve been dying to read it again for a while! My Real Children is great, I finally finished and reviewed it today if you’re interested.
Ooh, lots of books! I previously DNF’d The Night Circus, I think I must be the only person that didn’t enjoy it. I’ve dug it out and I’m going to try reading it again though. But I’ve lost it dust jacket *screams of terror* I have no idea where it would be! D:
Under The Mountain
I really liked it, though I remember some aspects of it that I can see getting on people’s nerves. For me it was just like a magic spell, though. <3
So many books! Everyone loved Eleanor & Park although I was a bit of a black sheep on that one. I still need to read The Night Circus and I own it too! Whoops.
Happy Reading!
Nicole @ The Quiet Concert
I have some qualms with it, but I do enjoy Rainbow Rowell’s writing style. Hmmmm. I love The Night Circus (obviously, since I picked it up to reread!).
Woot for Eleanor and Park! I loved that one!! Though not as much as Fangirl. š Ohhh, and The Night Circus?! I’d loooove to read that one. The cover is beautiful too. x)
My StS!
The Night Circus is amazing, doooo read it, I loved it to bits.
A lot of different books this week. I thoroughly enjoyed Eleanor Park. Night Circus was excellent
I am enjoying Rainbow Rowell’s style, and yeah, I love Erin Morgenstern too.
I loved Eleanor and Park – it was so cute! And I really need to read The Night Circus at some point because it looks amazing.
I’m enjoying it so far. And yes, The Night Circus is amazing!
Woo! What a haul!
Haha, yep! I’m doooomed…
Ooh, lots of fun books! Can’t wait to see what you think of them.
Also, CHERIE PRIEST! *o/*
Yesss. I have been hankering for a reread of Bloodshot and Hellbent, so I thought, heck, why not?
I want to try Cherie Priest, I heard great things about the books! I loved the Night Circus. I hope you’ll enjoy all your new books. Happy reading!
I really like Cherie Priest’s work — the Cheshire Red books more than her steampunk ones, but there’s a lot to love about her other books too. And The Night Circus is just magical.
Eleanor and Park is great!
Good to know!
You got some great books. I really need to dig out my copy of the night circus to read. I have been told its really good. Enjoy
I really love it, I definitely recommend it.
Ooh I loved Bloodshot by Cherie Priest and have book 2 on my shelf. I was gutted to find out that there wasn’t going to be a third book. I hoped she might choose to self publish the rest of the series but I haven’t heard anything about that. *shame*
I really love both, and yeah, I am so sad that there’s no sign of a third book or more. Still, maybe if we all show enough love…
I always wanted to read The Night Circus! Happy reading.
It’s lovely, I do recommend it!
WOW, what an awesome haul this week, Nikki! I love Beowolf! I need to check out that translation. I think Beowolf might be one of the first written sources for something that is kind of like a vampire…
I hope you’ll love all your new reads! Thanks for stopping by earlier.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Haha, I wouldn’t have said Grendel was particularly vampire like, but he’s definitely an early written source for an English monster… I’ve reviewed the translation/commentary already, actually, here. Beware the fact that I am a giant Anglo Saxon/Tolkien dork.
Thank you!
Ahhh, I so have to pick up a copy of The Night Circus. Haven’t actually read any things to do with the Circus. So, yes. š
Here’s mine

The Mirror Empire sounds neat. An Angry Robot book I haven’t heard of is rare but that one is new to me. Great haul this week. I hope you enjoy all your new reads!
