Stacking the Shelves

Aaand time for Tynga’s Reviews‘ Stacking the Shelves. It’s been a busy week, book-wise. I didn’t think it would be, but then I ended up in an indie bookshop, plus I ordered one book Jo Walton recommended, and have now ended up ordering the whole series. Most of them haven’t arrived yet, though, so I’ll save them for next week’s post!

Review copies/ARCs

Cover of The Bluffer's Guide to Rugby by Steven Gauge Cover of My Real Children by Jo Walton

Library

Cover of Attachments by Rainbow Rowell Cover of Elantris by Brandon Sanderson Cover of The Rook, by Daniel O'Malley

Bought

Cover of Jhereg by Steven Brust Cover of Yendi, by Steven Brust Cover of Teckla by Steven Brust Cover of Speaking from Among the Bones by Alan Bradley Cover of A Different Kingdom by Paul Kearney Cover of The Bees by Carol Ann Duffy

The Vlad Taltos series is the one that’s dragged me in kicking and, well, not at all complaining, just flailing vaguely to get my book-balance. Enjoying it very much, so far. Will probably have finished Jhereg by the time this post goes live. That’s the plan, anyway. And of course I’m very excited to have My Real Children, though time and Steven Brust are conspiring against me getting round to reading it.

What’s everyone else up to?

  1. I really liked Attachments, although I think it was quite different to her other two books. And Elantris is just amazing! I hope you enjoy your books, and thanks for stopping by!

    • I haven’t finished Fangirl or read anything else by Rainbow Rowell, so I don’t really have any expectations, so we’ll just see how it goes. Thanks for coming by in return!

  2. My Real Children looks intriguing. I hope you enjoy Attachments too. I don’t think it’s the best Rainbow Rowell, but it’s decent! Thanks for stopping by my blog 🙂

Carol Ann Duffy! <3<3<3 I love her so much, even having to do a whole section of her poems for the GCSEs didn't dim my love for her.

I didn't realize you were reading the Flavia de Luce novels, do you like them? I've had them recommended to me, but wasn't sure.

    • Yeeees, I’m going to see her do a reading at the Hay Festival at the end of May and I can’t wait.

I… Hm, I enjoy them as light reading, but I have problems with them. I think I reviewed one of them here — yep, here.

Ohh Attachments! I really want to try that one! I don’t read a lot of adult books, but I loved both of Rainbow Rowell’s teen books sooo much and I’m totally up to try Attachments. Happy reading! My StS!

  5. I absolutely loved THE ROOK, and Alan Bradley’s books are the best! I think he’s up to book #6 by now. Awesome haul, enjoy! And thanks for visiting:-)

    • I’m not sure how I’m going to feel about it, since the first page declares the author’s intention to maul a Welsh name, heh. But I’m gonna give it a go because otherwise it’s interesting. Thanks for visiting in return!

I have not read Attachments yet, but I LOVED Eleanor and Park and Fangirl was pretty decent too! Hope you enjoy your books! Thanks for stopping by!
